Description

Odroid-MC1 Solo is a minicomputer with an Samsung Exynos5422 processor (ARM® Cortex ™ -A15 Quad 2.0GHz / Cortex ™ -A7 Quad 1.4GHz) which has 2 GB of RAM (LPDDR3) available. The module is dedicated to the construction of computer clusters, has a housing that allows you to connect multiple modules with each other.

On the built cluster based on Odroid-MC1 Solo you can run, among others: Docker Swarm, Build Farm and many other parallel computer applications.

To run the minicomputer, you also need (not included):

Available ready-made computer cluster consisting of 4 Odroid-MC1 Solo modules: ODROID-MC1 - a set of 4 minicomputers with Samsung Exynos5422

Construction of the cluster with Odroid-MC1 Solo

To build a cluster that will be based on Odroid-MC1 modules you need:

Performance tests

The manufacturer has performed several performance tests of an exemplary computer cluster consisting of ODROID-MC1 Solo / Odroid XU4 modules and other single-chip computers such as Raspberry Pi 3, Odroid C1+, Odroid C2.

The computing power of the Odroid MC1 cluster is approximately 7 times greater than the Raspberry Pi 3 minicomputer, this performance is due to the use of an eight-core processor and 2 GB of RAM.

Odroid MC1 has a built-in Gigabyte Ethernet port. It allows two-way communication with a speed of about 910 Mbps. Obtaining such speeds is possible thanks to the use of an advanced RTL8153 controller, which allows for higher speeds than previous generations of Odroid boards.

Below are the results of the tests compared to the XU3 minicomputer

Testing commands:

Server mode : iperf -s
Client Mode : iperf -c [ip address] -P 10 -W 32k
