Description

X-NUCLEO-53L5A1 is an expansion board with ToF VL53L5CX distance sensor designed for STM32 Nucleo kits, The chip integrates SPAD array, physical infrared filters and optical elements (DOE) to achieve good performance in different ambient light conditions. The sensor can measure distances up to 3.5 meters in 64 zones with a wide 90° field of view. Data can be read at up to 60 Hz, and thanks to ST Histogram algorithms, the VL53L7CX is able to detect various objects in the field of view. The module allows gesture detection. It will excel in applications such as room mapping, liquid level detection or AR and VR applications. The overlay is compatible with STM32 Nucleo boards and has an Arduino UNO R3 connector.

Features

  • Field of view (FoV) 60° x 60° (90° diagonal)
  • Multi-zone output with separate 4x4 or 8x8 zones
  • Autonomous low-power mode with programmable interruption threshold
  • Range up to 350 cm
  • Multiple target detection and distance measurement in each zone
  • 60 Hz refresh capability
  • Histogram algorithm and compensation minimizes or removes the impact of glass crosstalk
  • Motion indicator for each zone, showing if targets have moved and how they have moved
  • Fully integrated module
  • Emitter: 940 nm invisible light vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) and integrated analog controller
  • Diffractive optical elements (DOE) on the transmitter and receiver to enable square FoV
  • Receive SPAD diode array
  • Low-power microcontroller with firmware
  • Easy integration
  • 0.25, 0.5 and 1 mm spacers to simulate air gaps
  • Compatible with STM32 Nucleo boards
  • Connector compatible with Arduino UNO R3
  • Software for the sensor available on the manufacturer's website
