Proxmark - tools for RFID system analysis

Proxmark develops an open hardware and software platform designed for RFID system analysis, testing and development. Devices from the Proxmark family support interaction with low-frequency and high-frequency technologies, communication capture and analysis, emulation and research into wireless identification protocols. The platform is used in laboratories, product development, RFID security research and penetration testing.

Compact RFID tool designed for the analysis, diagnostics, and security testing of contactless systems operating in the LF and HF bands. Proxmark3 RDV4 supports 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz, uses a SAM7S512 processor, and features integrated, pre-tuned antennas and a SIM/Smart Card reader. Its modular design supports additional antennas and BLE/WiFi expansion modules. Proxmark3 RDV4.01

Proxmark platform

The Proxmark project was originally created by Jonathan Westhues as a research tool for working with RFID systems. Its architecture combines a microcontroller with an FPGA to handle operations requiring precise timing and high-bandwidth signal processing. Subsequent hardware generations retained the core platform concept while expanding its capabilities for laboratory and field use.

RFID analysis and development

Proxmark devices provide low-level access to RFID signals and protocols, including sniffing, logging, demodulation, replay and emulation. These capabilities support RFID product development, analysis of cards and transponders and research into the security of wireless identification systems.

Proxmark hardware

The hardware family includes several generations and revisions, including Proxmark 3, Proxmark 3 Easy, RDV2, RDV4, EVO and Proxmark 5. Individual versions have been developed for different workflows, ranging from desktop research and development to mobile security testing and field-based RFID analysis.

Open ecosystem

Proxmark development is based on open-source software and an active community focused on RFID research. Available repositories include client software, firmware, FPGA logic and hardware documentation, allowing the platform to evolve and support additional protocols, research methods and development workflows.
