High-quality conductive thread that allows easy sewing by hand or machine, making it an ideal choice for e-textile projects. Coated with a nano-layer of silver, the thread has low resistance that stabilizes after sewing, and its conductivity is uniform along its entire length, eliminating the risk of non-conductive sections. Additionally, the thread is durable, does not fray and can be used in standard sewing machines, making it practical and easy to use. Kitronik 2727

Description

Electro-Fashion Conductive Thread is a high-quality conductive thread ideal for both hand and machine sewing (can be used on the bottom spool of the machine after being wound). This thread allows for the integration of electronics with fabrics, making it perfect for e-textile projects. The thread is coated with a nano-silver layer that provides its conductivity. It generally has low resistance, although these values may vary depending on the tension of the thread, typically ranging from 40 to 160 Ohms per meter. Once sewn, the resistance usually stabilizes around the midpoint of this range. Over time, the silver coating may wear off, especially during washing, and with prolonged use, the resistance can increase to over 280 Ohms.

One of the advantages of Kitronik thread is that its conductivity does not significantly change along its length, allowing for use without concerns about non-conductive sections appearing. The thread has a breaking strength of approximately 4.2 kg and consists of about 96 individual fibers, each coated with a thin micron layer of natural silver. The thread has about 18 denier, making it thicker than standard sewing thread but thinner than upholstery thread. It can be successfully used in most home sewing machines with either a standard or slightly larger needle. The thread does not fray, making it even more practical to use.
