RF Signal Amplification

RF amplifiers increase the signal level in a radio-frequency path, helping compensate for losses between an antenna and a transceiver or achieve the required signal level at a specific point in the installation. Amplifier parameters should be matched to the operating frequency and characteristics of the entire RF signal path.

Operating Frequency Range

One of the primary amplifier parameters is the supported frequency range. The operating band should correspond to the frequency used by the connected antenna system, communication module, receiver or transmitter.

Signal Gain

Gain specified in dB describes the change in signal level between the amplifier input and output. When selecting an amplifier, maximum signal level, noise parameters and power supply requirements should also be considered when specified for a particular model.

Antenna Amplifiers

Antenna amplifiers can be used in installations where cable and connection losses need to be compensated for or the received signal level needs to be increased. Amplifier selection should take into account antenna parameters, signal path length and the requirements of the receiving device.

Connectors and RF Signal Path Integration

The type of input and output connectors determines how the amplifier can be connected to other components in the installation. RF signal path design should also take into account impedance, power supply method and the parameters of cables and adapters used between individual components.
