Kitronik Craft & Code is an innovative educational kit for the BBC micro:bit, combining elements of electronics, coding, and creative crafting. It was designed by teachers and tested by students to provide engaging learning experiences for children aged 8 and above. With this kit, you can create projects based on everyday craft materials that become interactive when combined with the micro:bit. The kit is compatible with both BBC micro:bit v1 and v2, and programming is done in the intuitive MakeCode editor.
The included booklet introduces students to the world of coding, presents the board and components, and guides them step by step through two ready-to-build projects. The first is a carousel, which can be decorated and programmed to operate like a real one. The second is a touch-controlled night light, which can be decorated freely. The kit comes with a servo, motor, bulb with holder, crocodile clip leads, and a finnboard wheel, enabling quick project building without the need for extra tools. All components are connected easily thanks to clear markings on the board. Power is supplied by 3 AA batteries (3.5V – 4.5V), placed in the built-in holder. The board also features an on/off switch for saving energy. For learning programming, Kitronik has prepared a dedicated MakeCode extension, containing all the blocks required to control the kit’s features. This makes it simple for students to create their own projects while deepening their knowledge of electronics and coding.
