Description

Module with a cryptographic coprocessor based on the ATECC508A system. It allows you to add strong authentication security to an IoT node or embedded system. It comes with a unique 72-bit serial number and includes several security features to prevent physical attacks on the device itself or logical attacks on data being transferred between devices. The chip is unable to encrypt and decrypt data. However, it can perform several cryptographic authentication processes such as creating a secure private key, securely storing keys, and creating and verifying digital signatures.

The ATECC508A chip is capable of performing multiple cryptographic processes including but not limited to:

  • Create and securely store unique asymmetric key pairs based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography (FIPS186-3).
  • Creation and verification of 64-byte digital signatures (from 32-byte message data).
  • Create a shared secret key on a public channel using the Diffie-Hellman Elliptic Curve Algorithm.
  • Standard hash-based challenge-response protocol using the SHA-256 algorithm.
  • Internal high quality FIPS random number generator.
  • A 10Kb EEPROM memory is built into the chip, which can be used to store keys, certificates, data, usage logging and security configuration. Access to the memory sections can then be restricted and the configuration locked to prevent changes.

Attention!

Please read the connection instructions before use. The system can only be configured before it is permanently disabled.

The module communicates via the I2C interface. On the product page there is an instruction and the Arduino library.
