

When constructing electronic devices, a frequent and functional solution of battery power is a common problem. More and more often Li-Ion and Li-Pol batteries are used in many applications, mainly due to the very favorable ratio of current density to cell mass. The price for these excellent parameters is the need to carefully control the charging and discharging cycles - poorly operated Li-Pol-e can even explode or ignite.
The ATmega406 processor from Atmel was specially dedicated to the use of Li-Ion batteries. In its structure it contains all the functions necessary to build the so-called intelligent battery pack.
The device is especially recommended for electronics using ATmega406 processors and all those using Li-Ion and Li-Pol batteries
