Description
OAK-D Short Range PoE is an AI camera with ToF technology designed to provide accurate depth perception in short to medium ranges (ideally up to 3 m). It is excellent for applications such as picking items from containers, lifting and placing machines, quality control, and production automation, as well as robotic arms and more. The camera features a robust housing with an IP65/IP67 protection rating. In addition to a pair of stereo cameras (2x OV9782 with a baseline distance of 2 cm), the camera is equipped with a ToF sensor, whose ideal operating range is from 20 cm to 5 m, with depth accuracy of less than 1% indoors and less than 2% outdoors. The OAK-D SR PoE camera uses the OAK-SoM-Pro module, allowing for a compact design. The use of the SoM module reduces the overall scale of the project, making it easier to mount in various robotic processes.
With PoE connectivity, the camera can communicate with other computers via network protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP, MQTT, etc.). Since our PoE models have flash memory, programs can also run in standalone mode. The OAK PoE cameras are housed in a durable casing suitable for industrial and outdoor use. The camera features rugged industrial connectors, including an M12 PoE connector for power and GBit data transfer, as well as an M8 connector for IO connectivity; USB2 (D+, D-), camera IO (FSIN, STROBE), power, and one additional GPIO. An LED status light indicates camera activity, showing when it is operational. The camera is powered via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). The baseboard offers full compliance with 802.3af, Class 3 PoE at 1000BASE-T (1 Gbps) speeds. A PoE power supply/injector is required for the camera to operate correctly.
The RVC2 architecture offers a range of advanced features, including 4 TOPS of computational power, with 1.4 TOPS dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI), ensuring high performance in data processing. The system utilizes active stereo, where an IR point projector enhances depth perception, especially on visually low-interest surfaces, by projecting thousands of IR points onto the scene. The built-in LED provides IR illumination, enabling AI and computer vision (CV) algorithms to operate in low-light or completely dark conditions. The camera allows for running any AI models, including custom architectures, provided these models are converted beforehand. Video encoding includes standards such as H.264, H.265, and MJPEG, with resolutions up to 4K at 30 FPS and 1080P at 60 FPS. It also enables advanced computer vision features, including distortion correction, resizing, cropping, edge detection, and feature tracking, as well as running custom CV functions. Stereo depth perception includes filtering, post-processing, RGB alignment, and depth, with high configurability, and the object tracking system allows for both 2D and 3D tracking using the ObjectTracker node.
