OAK-1 PoE is an advanced AI camera with a 1 MP resolution, designed for neural network processing and computer vision tasks directly on the device. It allows for capturing images in high resolution, running custom AI models, and performing complex image analysis. Equipped with 16 GB of internal eMMC memory, the OAK-1-PoE baseboard transmits RGB images directly to the OAK-SoM-Pro module for depth processing and AI analysis. The data can be transferred to the host via USB 3.1 Gen1 (Type-C) or 1000BASE-T Ethernet.
Featuring the RVC2 architecture with 4 TOPS of computing power, of which 1.4 TOPS are dedicated to AI tasks, the OAK-1 supports any AI models, including custom architectures after conversion. The camera supports video encoding in formats such as H.264, H.265, and MJPEG. In terms of computer vision, the device offers distortion correction, resizing, cropping, edge detection, and feature tracking. The object tracking function enables 2D tracking using the ObjectTracker module. Power consumption depends on the device load, with a maximum of up to 5.5 W. Fixed-focus cameras are recommended for applications involving significant vibrations, such as drones, lawnmowers, or vehicles.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) enables cameras to communicate with computers using network protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP, or MQTT. With built-in flash memory in PoE models, programs can run autonomously without requiring a constant connection to a computer. OAK PoE cameras have a rugged industrial enclosure with an IP67 rating, making them ideal for outdoor and industrial applications. The OAK-1-PoE board also includes boot mode selection switches, allowing users to boot the OAK-SoM-Pro module from USB, internal eMMC memory, or NOR flash memory.
The camera is enclosed in a durable aluminum housing with an IP67 rating and a front panel made of Gorilla Glass, ensuring high durability. It also includes a standard 1/4" mounting thread for easy attachment to a tripod. The camera uses a USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen1, 5 Gbps) for both power and data transfer. Power consumption varies based on the features in use, with basic usage during video streaming ranging from 2.5W to 3W, and up to 5.5W when AI subsystems, stereoscopy, and video encoding are active. Reducing the frame rate can further lower power consumption by decreasing the load on various subsystems.
