OAK-1 PoE is an advanced AI camera with a 12 MP resolution, offering neural network processing and computer vision capabilities directly on the device. This allows capturing high-resolution images, running custom AI models, and performing complex image analysis tasks. It is equipped with 16 GB of internal eMMC memory, and the OAK-1-PoE baseboard integrates the camera, transmitting RGB images directly to the OAK-SoM-Pro module for depth processing and AI analysis. Data can then be transferred to a host via USB 3.1 Gen1 (Type-C) or a 1000BASE-T Ethernet connection.
The device is powered by the RVC2 architecture, offering 4 TOPS of computing power, with 1.4 TOPS dedicated to AI tasks. OAK-1 supports any AI models, including custom architectures after conversion. The camera allows video encoding in H.264, H.265, MJPEG formats at 4K/30FPS or 1080P/60FPS resolutions. In terms of computer vision, the device offers distortion correction, resizing, cropping, edge detection, and feature tracking. Object tracking enables 2D tracking via the ObjectTracker module. Power consumption depends on device load, with a maximum power usage of up to 5.5W. The Auto-Focus version, with an integrated electromagnet, dynamically adjusts the lens position, making it ideal for capturing objects at different distances.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) enables the camera to communicate with computers via network protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP, and MQTT. With built-in flash memory in PoE models, programs can run autonomously without the need for a constant connection to a computer. OAK PoE cameras feature a robust industrial housing with an IP67 rating, making them ideal for outdoor and industrial use. The OAK-1-PoE board also offers boot mode selection switches, allowing the user to boot the OAK-SoM-Pro module from USB, built-in eMMC, or NOR flash memory.
The camera is housed in a rugged aluminum enclosure with an IP67 rating and a front panel made of Gorilla Glass, ensuring high durability. It also features a standard 1/4" mounting thread for easy attachment to a tripod. The camera uses a USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen1, 5 Gbps) for both power and data transfer. Power consumption varies based on the features used. Basic power usage during video streaming ranges from 2.5W to 3W, with additional power required for AI subsystems, stereoscopy, and video encoding, totaling up to 5.5W. Reducing the frame rate can further decrease power consumption by reducing the load on individual subsystems.
