OAK-D PoE is an advanced robotic vision camera combining stereoscopic depth sensing with a high-resolution RGB camera to provide human-like perception. With built-in neural network processing and computer vision capabilities, the camera enables advanced real-time image analysis. It uses an RJ45 PoE port for power and connectivity, ensuring high-speed data transfer. The OAK-D camera is based on the RVC2 architecture, offering 4 TOPS of computational power (including 1.4 TOPS dedicated to AI tasks). OAK-D supports any AI models, including custom ones, after prior conversion. The device supports encoding formats like H.264, H.265, MJPEG at resolutions of 4K/30FPS and 1080P/60FPS. In terms of computer vision, it offers features such as distortion correction, resizing, cropping, edge detection, and feature tracking. Additionally, the camera enables both 2D and 3D object tracking via the ObjectTracker module.
The Ethernet with PoE connection allows cameras to communicate with other systems via network protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP, and MQTT, while also powering the camera with a single cable. Encased in a rugged IP-rated housing, it is ideal for industrial and outdoor applications. The module is fully compliant with the 802.3af PoE standard (Class 3) and supports 1000BASE-T (1 Gbps) speeds. A PoE adapter or switch is required for operation.
Built-in stereo cameras provide precise depth perception with filtering, data processing, and RGB-depth alignment. The ideal depth range is 70 cm to 12 m, and the camera separation is 75 mm. Encased in a durable aluminum housing with Gorilla Glass on the front panel, the camera is designed to withstand tough environments. OAK-D features a standard 1/4" mounting thread for tripods and a 75mm M4 Vesa mount. It also integrates a BNO085 IMU, a 9-axis inertial module, enabling real-time 3D motion tracking to monitor the camera's position and movement accurately.
Power consumption of the OAK-D depends on the load of its modules, including the Vision Processing Unit (VPU). Basic usage, including video streaming, consumes 2.5W - 3W. Additional power demands include up to 1W for AI, 0.5W for stereoscopy, and 0.5W for video encoding, with a total consumption of up to 5.5W when all features are active. This makes it ideal for projects requiring precise robotic vision, AI, depth analysis, and real-time motion tracking.
