The STMPS2161STR is an enhanced 1-channel power distribution switch. It is designed for applications where high capacitive loads and short circuits are likely to occur. The circuit features high side power switches with a 90 mR N-channel MOSFET for power distribution. The circuit breaker is controlled by a logical enable input. When the output load exceeds the current limiting threshold or in the event of a short circuit, the device limits the output current to a safe level by switching to DC mode. The thermal protection circuit cuts off the circuit breaker in case of increased power dissipation due to excessive loads and short circuits. Compensation from the thermal switch occurs in automatic mode after the system has cooled down. An internal circuit holds the switch in the OFF position until input voltage is present.
