Power multiplexer based on Texas Instruments TPS2113A. It allows you to seamlessly switch between two power sources from 2.8V to 5.5V while blocking reverse current to the second source. The multiplexer has an adjustable current limit up to 2 A and an adjustable switching threshold, which allows to reduce the output voltage drop during switching. Each input channel is controlled by an internal MOSFET switch.
The module is a great solution for projects that require switching between two sources such as USB and external power. The board has all the pins of the TPS2113A chip on a 2.54 mm connector, making it easy to use and matching the pin spacing used in breadboards.
The multiplexer can be used in several ways. In case of power connection to two general inputs, one power source should be connected via IN1 and GND, and the other via IN2 and GND. Voltages on these power inputs can be up to 5.5 V. The load should be connected via OUT and GND and should not draw more than 2 A. In this configuration, the power supply connected to IN1 is the main power source if VSNS is high.
The microUSB connector makes it easy to use USB as one of the two power sources. By default, the VBUS line from the USB connector is connected to IN1. This allows the circuit to be powered from USB or an external power source connected to IN2, with USB as the primary power source if VSNS is high. If the project requires the external source to be the main source instead of USB, connect the jumper that connects the IN1 and VBUS pads, and then connect the VBUS and IN2 pads. Then an external source can be connected to IN1, making it the preferred source if VSNS is high.
