Description

A module with an ATECC608A cryptographic chip that allows you to add strong security to an IoT node, edge device, or embedded system. Includes asymmetric authentication, symmetric encryption, and AES-128 decryption. The ATECC608A chip supports multiple cryptographic processes, including but not limited to:

  • Create and securely store unique asymmetric key pairs based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography (FIPS186-3).
  • AES-128: encryption, decryption, Galois field multiplication for GCM
  • Creation and verification of 64-byte digital signatures (from 32-byte message data).
  • Creating a shared secret key on a public channel using the Diffie-Hellman algorithm of the elliptic curve.
  • SHA-256 and HMAC Hash, including save and restore context off-chip
  • Internal high-quality FIPS random number generator.
  • A 10Kb EEPROM matrix is embedded in the chip that can be used to store keys, certificates, data, usage logging and security configuration. Access to the memory sections can then be restricted and the configuration locked to prevent changes. Each ATECC608A Breakout comes with a guaranteed unique 72-bit serial number and includes several security features to prevent physical attacks on the device itself or logical attacks on data in transit between devices.

The board is equipped with two Qwiic ports and pins with an I2C interface with a 2.54 mm pitch. The module is powered with the voltage from 2 to 5.5 V. Full documentation, the Arduino library and the tutorial are available on the product page.

A summary of the documentation is available in the "Download" section. The complete datasheet is nondisclosed with Microchip. To access the complete datasheet, please contact the manufacturer directly.
