Description
SEGGER's emPower OS is a complete operating system that provides the ideal environment for any developer creating an embedded system or IoT device. It can be designed to run on resource constrained, single-chip microcontroller systems with no external memory, or scale for highest performance without unnecessary MPU overhead. This end-to-end solution supports any vendor, any IC, and any cloud vendor, making switching vendors and individual hardware platforms easy and risk-free. Getting started with emPower OS is easy and significantly reduces the time needed to create a product thanks to the use of solid, well-tested components.
emPower OS is an all-in-one solution: all software components are sourced from the same vendor with strictly defined API interactions between different modules. Each module has an RTOS interface layer that provides an abstraction layer between RTOS and other standard libraries for communication.
According to the commercial license of SEGGER, emPower OS is free of license fees. This means that each license purchased is a one-time fee. emPower OS in the object code can be used free of charge for non-commercial educational purposes.
Embedded Studio is a dedicated IDE for application development using emPower OS, but the system can also be compiled in other environments by any standard ANSI/ISO C compiler.
