Description

Arduino Opta is an advanced, safe and easy-to-use micro-PLC controller that makes it easy to add Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to industrial applications. It allows you to develop projects that automate production systems while using the Arduino ecosystem. The device supports both Arduino scripts and standard PLC languages such as LD (Ladder Language) and FBD (Function Block Diagram), making it an ideal tool for PLC engineers. The controller was created in cooperation with Finder, a respected manufacturer of devices for industrial and construction automation.

At the heart of the Arduino Opta is the powerful STM32H747XI chip with dual Cortex-M7 and Cortex-M4 cores, which allows users full real-time control. The priorities when creating the device were its safety and durability. Opta supports remote OTA software updates and guarantees data security from the hardware level to the cloud, thanks to built-in security and compliance with the X.509 standard. Deployment in production is easy thanks to the large number of Arduino Pro software and script libraries available. A variety of connectivity options enable convenient real-time panel monitoring, supported by the intuitive Arduino Cloud or third-party services.

Programming the device is easy thanks to the Arduino PLC IDE. You can choose from five programming languages defined by the IEC 61131-3 standard (LD, FBD, SFC, ST and IL) and quickly create new applications or port existing ones to the Opta platform.

Opta enables the integration of a robust and reliable micro-PLC into existing machines, devices and production lines, also in combination with other elements in a modular and versatile Arduino ecosystem. It is a high-quality product, created in cooperation with the renowned manufacturer Finder, which has over 65 years of experience in the field of electromechanical and electronic components. This device is perfect for even the most demanding working conditions in industrial environments.

The main advantages of Arduino Opta include:

  • Easy and fast software development with ready-made scripts, tutorials and Arduino libraries.
  • Support for standard IEC 61131-3 PLC languages.
  • Bus integration via Modbus TCP (Ethernet) and Modbus RTU (RS485 serial).
  • Seamless IoT connectivity (Ethernet/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth® Low Energy).
  • Real-time remote monitoring with intuitive dashboards in Arduino Cloud or third-party services.
  • Hardware-level security with built-in security and X.509 compliance.
  • Secure OTA software updates and device management in the Cloud.
  • High relay switching power (4 x 2.3 kW).
  • Reliability thanks to industry certifications and Finder's expertise in switching technology.
  • Easy installation with DIN rail compatibility.

Arduino Opta comes in three variants, which allows you to adapt it to different projects. The Opta RS485 variant has integrated Ethernet and USB-C connectors and an RS485 Half-Duplex connectivity interface. If you need Wi-Fi/Bluetooth® Low Energy connectivity, Opta WiFi is the best choice. If you only care about Ethernet and USB-C connectivity, it is worth paying attention to the simplest variant, i.e. the Opta Lite version.
