ARM Cortex-M cores are now widely used by microcontroller manufacturers. The book is a gentle introduction to the microcontroller technique built on the basis of the classical representative of this family, i.e. Cortex-M3. It starts with basic concepts such as bit, byte, representation of numbers in the computer. Examples of projects are described: display and keyboard support, ModBus serial transmission, ADC / DAC analog-to-digital conversion and PID controllers and pole positioning. The last chapter is a project of a simple RTOS real-time system. In the examples, the μKeil programming environment is used (the free version has a limit of 32 kB code).
Dr inż. Maciej Szumski graduated from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at the Warsaw University of Technology. He obtained the degree of doctor of technical sciences in the discipline of automatics and robotics at the same faculty. He belongs to the Automation and Robotics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and is the owner of the Plum company (www.plum.pl) producing industrial regulators and measuring instruments for measuring pressure, temperature and natural gas flow. He lectures at the Faculty of Electronics of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Białystok University of Technology in the subject of Microprocessor Systems in Control. Scientific activity focuses mainly on non-linear, predictive adaptive algorithms.
