Description

ADALM-PLUTO Active Learning Module (PlutoSDR) is an easy-to-use tool from Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) that can be used to introduce software defined radio (SDR) and radio frequency communication (RF) to the basics. It is a portable lab that, in conjunction with a variety of software packages such as MATLAB or Simulink, provides an innovative Graphical User Interface (GUI) for intuitive use.

ADI offers the Software-Defined Radio for Engineers manual, which covers the basics of hands-on wireless communication centered around using PlutoSDR with MATLAB. This combination of theory, hardware and software allows you to easily move from math to simulation and hardware.

PlutoSDR offers independent transmit and receive channels that can operate in full duplex. It can generate or receive analog RF signals from 325 MHz to 3800 MHz at rates up to 61.44 Megapples per second (MSPS). It is powered by USB and uses the default firmware. Since PlutoSDR uses libio drivers, it supports OS X, Windows and Linux.

ADI advanced users have an open toolkit that allows access to additional AD9363 transceiver functions inside PlutoSDR. The Analog Devices Board Support Package also provides HDL support for those who wish to utilize the PlutoSDR FPGA for signal processing using the HDL encoder.
