A development kit with a Bluetooth Low Energy module based on the nRF52840 microcontroller from Nordic Semiconductor. The system is equipped with 1 MB of Flash memory and 256 KB of RAM memory and can operate at a frequency of up to 64 MHz. In addition, the board has a QSPI Flash memory with a capacity of 2 MB, on which CircuitPython code and additional data can be stored.
Among the interfaces available on the board connector, the user will find six analog inputs with a resolution of 12 bits, PWM outputs available on all GPIO pins and an I2C interface. In addition, the D2 pin has the ability to work as an NFC antenna output.
Feather nRF52840 Sense is equipped with a wide range of sensors, including the LSM6DS33 gyroscope and accelerometer, LIS3MDL magnetometer, APDS9960 light and gesture sensor, SHT30 humidity, BMP280 temperature and pressure, and MP34DT01-M digital microphone. Such a wide availability of sensors makes the set perfect for IoT projects. Additionally, the user has at his disposal an RGB NeoPixel diode and a red LED connected to the D13 pin.
The module offers various power supply methods, including the USB connector or the JST PH 2.0 (BAT) connector, i.e. power supply with voltage from 3.5 to 4.2 V using a LiPo battery. The built-in 3.3 V voltage stabilizer not only provides voltage to the elements placed on the board, but also allows for powering external circuits through the 3 V pin, which is controlled by the En input. In addition, the PCB has a charging circuit for LiPo batteries.
Feather nRF52840 Sense can be programmed using the Nordic SDK environment, Arduino IDE and using CircuitPython. Full documentation with numerous examples is available on the product page.
