modRPImatrixLED is a 16 × 8 LED matrix module consisting of two 8 × 8 panels and providing a total of 128 LEDs. The module is designed for use with Raspberry Pi computers and can be connected directly to the GPIO header.
A dedicated LED driver allows a large number of LEDs to be controlled without using many Raspberry Pi GPIO pins. Communication is handled through the SPI interface together with additional control lines. According to the seller's specification, the module uses 3 interface lines and 2 additional control lines.
The matrix can be used for simple displays, indicators, light animations, displaying characters and symbols, as well as educational and prototyping projects based on Raspberry Pi.
