LilyPad reed switch in a black insulated casing preventing the element from breaking. When the device is exposed to a magnetic field, the two materials inside pull together and the switch closes. When the magnetic field is removed, the components separate and the switch opens. It can conduct current up to 1 A (combined) and 0.25 A when switching.
