Description

Module with a differential I2C transceiver allowing to extend the range of the I2C communication bus. It uses the NXP PCA9615 integrated circuit that converts two I2C signals into four differential signals (two for SCL and two for SDA). The differential signals are sent over an Ethernet cable that plugs into the RJ-45 connector. Differential signaling allows I2C signals to travel up to 30m. All communication is exclusively via I2C (signal is not converted to another protocol) using the Qwiic connector. The module allows you to extend the range of the I2C sensor in an autonomous vehicle with a lot of noise, e.g. from motors, or to create an extensive network of sensors in your home or office. On the product page there is a user manual with an example of use.

Features

  • PCA9615 chip
  • Supply voltage range I2C 2.3 to 5.5 V
  • Differential voltage range 3 to 5.5V
  • Current consumption: 16 µA
  • Extends the I2C bus to approx. 30 m
  • Data transfer rate up to 400 kHz
  • 2x Qwiic connectors
