The programmer eliminates the basic disadvantage of ST7 series systems - the lack of cheap hardware tools for programming them. The system works with the free STVP7 software. The circuit eliminated the circuits for switching the supply voltages to the programmed uP. This somewhat limits its functionality - older "bones" from the ST7 family can not be programmed. Their availability is however small - as the practice confirms, the usefulness of putty is quite sufficient for users of modern versions of the ST7 Flite microcontrollers.

The device is especially recommended for designers and people who want to learn and work with ST7 family microcontrollers
