Liquid crystal alphanumeric displays have long been a standard feature of many microprocessor devices. He contributed to this, among others the driver standard developed by Hitachi, still eagerly used despite the presence of various new data buses.
In practice, in a series of devices there is a need to 'move' the display away from the rest of the computer system or to handle more than one element of this type. The problem is then the number and length of the signal lines. In such cases, the solution presented below can be used. The system enables the control of the alphanumeric LCD display via the I2C bus. In addition, there are a number of functions that were initially not included in the Hitachi specification.
The interface board has a shape corresponding to the LCD display board and creates a convenient 'sandwich' with it.
The device is especially recommended to the constructors of microprocessor systems
