8-channel I2C bus multiplexer based on the TCA9548A, allowing devices with identical I2C addresses to operate with one microcontroller. The multiplexer address can be configured from 0x70 to 0x77 using A0–A2 jumpers, while 10 Qwiic connectors simplify solderless connections. Operating voltage range is 1.65–5.5V. Soldered 333077
The device I2C multiplexer TCA9548A breakout by Soldered uses the TCA9548A IC and provides 8 independent I2C channels. Multiplexing allows multiple devices with identical I2C addresses to be connected to one microcontroller, avoiding address conflicts by selecting the channel used for communication. Applications include measurement systems containing multiple identical sensors and peripheral modules.
The main bus uses the SDA and SCL lines, while individual channels provide SDA0–SDA7 and SCL0–SCL7 pairs. The required channel is selected through I2C commands. The board features 10 Qwiic connectors for solderless connection to compatible devices.
The default multiplexer address is 0x70. Three address jumpers, A0, A1, and A2, allow selection of one of eight addresses from 0x70 to 0x77. Up to 8 multiplexers can therefore operate on one bus, providing access to as many as 64 devices with identical I2C addresses.
The operating voltage range is 1.65–5.5V, allowing operation with I2C systems using different voltage levels. The board measures 54 × 38mm and features four mounting holes designed for M3 screws. The manufacturer provides an Arduino library, documentation, and open-source hardware design files.
