Kitronik 5643, known as LAMP:bit, is a module designed for the BBC micro:bit that replicates the function of a streetlight. It features a white LED and a phototransistor, allowing for the simulation of automatic lighting activation at dusk. This module is an excellent educational tool for learning the basics of programming and understanding how urban lighting systems operate.
The LAMP:bit is equipped with a white LED that acts as a streetlight and a phototransistor that enables automatic switching of the light based on ambient brightness—for example, turning on at dusk. The micro:bit board can be easily attached to the LAMP:bit using screws or clips. The design of the LAMP:bit is inspired by another Kitronik product—STOP:bit—which allows both modules to be used together in larger educational projects, such as simulating intersections or traffic systems. Additionally, dedicated code blocks are available in the MakeCode editor as an extension, making programming easy and accessible. For stability, the bottom part of the PCB can be snapped off to form a cross-shaped base.
