About the book

The book is a compendium devoted to modern, programmable and configurable network interfaces (Ethernet), more and more commonly used in telemetric systems, monitoring and alarm systems, remote control and regulation systems, automation and many other applications. Their number is growing rapidly with the spread of wired and wireless access to the Internet, as well as cheaper and simpler implementation of local networks replacing other communication media.

The author presents - in addition to a brief theoretical introduction - examples of applications prepared in Basic for programmable Ethernet modules manufactured by Tibbo. The examples are based on a universal starter kit that allows you to test all the applications presented in the book and prepare many of your own solutions.

The TIBBOcomp development kit is freely added to every book "Programmable Ethernet modules in the examples." ordered at Kamami.pl. The promotion lasts while stocks last.

Review posted in the NetWorld magazine No. 05/2013

Currently, there are many microcontrollers on the market that have an interface with an Ethernet network. In the book, the author attempted to transfer knowledge about Ethernet, combining it with the practical use of software provided by microcontroller manufacturers to implement cooperation with such applications as WWW and FTP. Reading the book, the reader will find the basis of the theory of transmission of the signal propagated in the network, description of the network layer, rules of IP addressing and a precise explanation of the role of frames used in particular layers, up to the transport layer and applications. It will learn how to use practically acquired knowledge to implement a complex application based on a ready-made hardware and software platform (Tibbo EM 1202 with the TiOS operating system), the developed example of which is presented in the book is a web server. The book should be of interest to people who want to use microcontrollers to communicate various types of devices with an Ethernet network.
