About the book

The book presents methods of digital signal processing used in modern electric power automation systems, in particular power protection automation. The algorithms of quick measurements of electrical quantities are discussed, which are the basis for decision making by these systems. The analysis of the influence of various types of disturbances accompanying faults in the electrical network on the accuracy and speed of event evaluation in the supervised system is carried out.

A large part of the book is devoted to the application of artificial intelligence methods in power engineering, in particular for the recognition and classification of disturbances, correction of measuring transducers, measurement of electrical quantities and decision making.

The book is mainly addressed to readers connected with the power industry: students, PhD students and constructors of modern control and measurement systems in this area. The introduction to issues related to disturbances in the power system and numerous examples illustrating the specifics of the problems considered allow us to recommend this to specialists in the field of digital signal processing and artificial intelligence methods, who in this way can find a grateful field of application of their own ideas.
