Description
The device Inkplate 5 Gen2 by Soldered features a 5.2" e-paper display with a resolution of 1280 × 720px. The board is based on an ESP32 microcontroller with WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 LE connectivity, allowing the device to retrieve and display information directly from network sources. The screen supports black and white together with 6 shades of gray, while e-paper technology requires no power to maintain already displayed content.
A full screen refresh takes approximately 0.99s, while a partial refresh takes approximately 0.22s. The board includes a microSD card reader, a real-time clock and a Qwiic/easyC connector for connecting additional I2C modules. GPIO lines as well as I2C and SPI interfaces are also available. Inkplate can be programmed using Arduino, MicroPython and ESP-IDF, and its Arduino library is compatible with Adafruit GFX.
Product variant 333336 includes an enclosure and a 3.7V 1200mAh Li-Ion battery. The onboard MCP73831 charging circuit allows the battery to be charged through USB-C, while deep-sleep current consumption is approximately 18µA. The USB-C connector is also used for power and programming. Dimensions of the version with enclosure and battery are 145.24 × 84.23 × 13.5mm.
