About the book

Operational amplifiers are currently the most used elements in all kinds of analog circuits, one can even say that they are the foundation of modern analog electronics. The book is a compendium of knowledge about them, in which a special emphasis was placed on practical issues, first of all: design of active filters and function waveform generators, noise sources in analogue systems, discussion of the meaning of parameters characterizing operational amplifiers, and selection of element values for selected applications. The necessary portion of theoretical considerations is only a supplement to practical knowledge that should be kept by every electronics engineer involved in analogue systems.

For this reason, the book should be a "must-have" both in professional design laboratories and in home electronic laboratories. The information contained therein will also be a perfect complement to lectures conducted at faculties: electrical, electronics and automation of universities.

Preface

For a long time, electronics have been bothering with the question of what signal processing is better - analog or digital. Recently, it seemed that the victory of digital technology is already absolute and total.

The main advantage of digital systems is the considerable flexibility of the functions performed, which can be easily modified by changing the implemented algorithm, without the need to rebuild the topology of the system itself. Digital systems also give better accuracy than analogue and are more resistant to noise. And yet the analogue technique has not been abandoned and continues to grow. Firstly, because most sensors give analog signals and the path from the sensor to the analog-digital converter must necessarily be an analogue path. And secondly, analog technology has, in some applications, an advantage over digital. Analog processing is particularly well suited for the implementation of fixed, unchanging functions. In this case, analog systems are simpler, and therefore cheaper than digital ones, and also faster than them. They do not require time to process A / C, as well as to perform the necessary operations in the signal processor or computer. These advantages make the use of analogue technology more and more often used in the implementation of certain tasks, and in the case of international electronic magazines (eg in the German "Elektronik") articles about its renaissance appear.

We are pleased to welcome this book devoted to the operating principles and applications of operational amplifiers, which are the basic building blocks of analog systems. The Author's and Publisher's initiative is all the more valuable because for many years there has been no publication devoted entirely to this important topic in Polish technical literature. A serious asset of the book is its practical utility.

The author, a well-known promoter of electronics, has a rare gift of writing easily about difficult things, and also has the ability to make a good contact with the reader. While determining the nature of this work, one can use the title of one of its parts - a book for inquisitive practitioners. Using the information contained therein, you can certainly better understand the operation of operational amplifiers, as well as learn to apply them in practice. I wish readers a useful reading of this interesting book, and the Author - a lot of job satisfaction he put in writing it.
