Description

A magnetic stirrer is a laboratory device that uses a rotating magnetic field to spin an element immersed in a liquid very quickly, and thus to mix it. The rotating field can be produced by a rotating magnet or a set of stationary electromagnets placed under the liquid vessel. Compared with similar magnetic stirrers on the market, this magnetic stirrer is small and light, it does not cause noise and vibration. It is powered with 12 V and the current consumption does not exceed 1 A.

Magnetic stirrers are often used in chemistry and biology where they can be used in hermetically sealed vessels without the need for complex rotary seals. They are preferred over gear driven mixers as they are quieter, more efficient and have no external moving parts to break or wear. Magnetic stirrers work well in glass vessels commonly used for chemical reactions because the glass does not significantly affect the magnetic field. The small size of the mixing element means that the magnetic stirrers can only be used for relatively small containers. However, due to its small size, the paddle is easier to clean and sterilize than other mixing equipment. They do not require lubricants that could contaminate the reaction vessel and the product.
