Description

The LED module Adafruit NeoPixel Stick 8 × 5050 WWA contains 8 individually addressable NeoPixel 5050 LEDs arranged in a linear configuration on a PCB. The WWA version provides three light channels: warm white, cool white and amber. The module can be used for decorative lighting, indicators, signaling and projects requiring adjustable white-light characteristics.

Each LED includes an integrated driver, allowing every light point to be controlled independently through a single data line. Multiple sticks can be daisy-chained by connecting the data output of one module to the input of the next, allowing a larger number of LEDs to be controlled from a single microcontroller pin.

NeoPixel communication uses an 800kHz timing-sensitive protocol. The PWM frequency is approximately 400Hz. Real-time microcontrollers such as AVR, Arduino, PIC and other platforms supporting the NeoPixel protocol can be used for control.

The module is designed for a nominal 5V DC supply, with the manufacturer specifying an operating range of approximately 4–6V. Each LED uses approximately 12mA constant-current drive. Mounting holes on the PCB simplify installation in enclosures and prototype assemblies.
