Torque Limiter, a safety device that limits the amount of torque transmitted in the drive train when the torque demand exceeds a given value as a result of shock loads, overloads, or machine jams. It automatically restarts when the overload is removed.
It uses a spring friction surface to adjust the spring force with a nut or bolt to pre-set the sliding torque. It can be used as a center piece with a gear or a flanged bushing between the friction surfaces.
