M5Stack U172 is a Unit series expansion module designed for precise distance measurement using Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology. The sensor uses the VL53L1CXV0FY/1 chip, which emits a laser signal and measures the time of its return after reflecting from an object, allowing the distance to the target to be determined in the range from 4 cm to 400 cm with millimeter-level resolution. The module communicates with the host system via a standard I2C interface (default address 0x29), enabling easy integration with platforms such as M5Stack Core, Atom, Stick, as well as other devices supporting the I2C bus. The sensor is suitable for applications such as robotics, autonomous systems, drones, and presence or motion monitoring applications.
