Luxonis OAK-D S2 Fixed Focus
OAK-D S2 is an advanced robotic vision camera that combines stereoscopic depth perception with a high-resolution RGB camera, offering human-like perception. With built-in capabilities for neural network processing and computer vision, the camera enables advanced real-time image analysis. It uses a USB Type-C port for power and connectivity, ensuring fast data transfer via USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbps). The OAK-D camera is based on the RVC2 architecture, which offers 4 TOPS of computational power (including 1.4 TOPS dedicated to AI tasks). OAK-D supports any AI models, including custom ones, after prior conversion. The device allows encoding in H.264, H.265, MJPEG formats at resolutions of 4K/30FPS and 1080P/60FPS. In terms of computer vision, it offers distortion correction, resizing, cropping, edge detection, and feature tracking. Additionally, the camera provides 2D and 3D object tracking through the ObjectTracker module.
The built-in stereo cameras ensure precise depth perception with filtering, data processing, and alignment of RGB images to depth. The ideal depth range is between 70 cm and 12 m, with a distance of 75 mm between the cameras. The camera is enclosed in a durable aluminum housing equipped with Gorilla Glass on the front panel, ensuring durability and resistance to harsh conditions. OAK-D features a standard mounting thread with a diameter of 1/4", making it easy to attach to tripods, as well as 75mm M4 Vesa mounting. Power consumption is up to 5W, depending on the intensity of feature usage. Additionally, the OAK-D camera has an integrated BNO085 IMU, a 9-axis inertial module that enables tracking motion in three dimensions. This allows for real-time monitoring of the camera's position and movement. Details on IMU handling are available through the IMU Node API.
Power consumption in OAK-D depends on module load, including the vision processing unit (VPU). Basic consumption, along with video streaming, ranges from 2.5W to 3W, with additional power requirements of up to 1W for the AI system, 0.5W for the stereoscopic system, and 0.5W for the video encoder. Total consumption can reach up to 5W when all functions are used simultaneously. This is an ideal solution for projects requiring precise robotic vision, AI, depth analysis, and real-time motion tracking.
