About the book

The most important advantage of the book is a compact and comprehensive presentation of the basic issues related to the synthesis of digital circuits dedicated to different families of programmable systems and their depiction using simple, traceable examples.

The most valuable elements of the book are:
  • a comprehensive look at the problems of synthesis of digital circuits implemented in various programmable systems,
  • discussion of the basics of classical functional decomposition,
  • description of many synthesis problems using BDD diagrams,
  • presentation of original ideas related to the issues of description, decomposition and mapping of digital circuits in programmable structures,
  • visualization of complex problems of synthesis on simple examples.
The book discusses two basic issues related directly to the design of digital circuits implemented in programmable structures: logical synthesis and associated process of technological mapping in programmable structures. Solutions obtained through the use of design support tools available on the market are very far from optimal. In addition, software developers protect their ideas without revealing details related to the algorithms used, preferred methods of system description or even the effect of setting the synthesis option on the final result of technological mapping. The designer stands in front of the "black box" to which he "inserts" the layout description and waits for the result. If the final design effect does not suit him, he tries to change something. The designer needs to know what he can do, how to describe the system, to achieve specific effects, he must expect the appropriate effects, and he can acquire such skills, knowing the nature of problems related to the technological imaging of designed systems in the programmable systems he uses.
