Description

The Dobot MG400 is a compact four-axis collaborative robot (cobot) that, thanks to its positioning repeatability of ±0.05 mm, is perfectly suited for automation applications requiring high precision at low cost. With a lightweight design (8 kg) and a square base measuring 19 cm, it takes up very little space, making it suitable for industrial, educational, and research environments.

The robot offers a reach of up to 44 cm, rotation range of 320°, and a payload capacity of up to 500 g, making it a versatile tool in automation processes. Features such as collision detection and drag-to-teach (manual guiding of the arm to record positions) allow for fast and intuitive programming. Thanks to its design, the MG400 is capable of handling a wide variety of tasks, including assembly, part transfer, packaging, and support for simple laboratory processes.

The servo motors responsible for the main axis movements are placed in the robot’s base, enabling a compact and stable construction. Motion is transmitted through gears and timing belts, with an additional servo motor controlling the end effector’s rotation. The I/O panel in the base offers 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs, 24 V DC power supply, two Ethernet ports, two USB ports, an encoder port for conveyor belt integration, a compressed air inlet, and a dedicated connector for an emergency stop button. Air supplied to the base is routed to the pneumatic output at the effector, enabling operation of pneumatic grippers.

With its competitive price, high precision, and compact size, the Dobot MG400 is an excellent solution for industry, education, and research, offering functionalities that far exceed hobby or semi-professional products.
