The Crowtail RTC 2.0 is designed for generating and maintaining accurate time and date in electronic systems that require very low power consumption. The module is based on the DS1307 real-time clock IC, which communicates with a microcontroller via the I2C bus and provides clock and calendar functionality.
The integrated real-time clock supplies information about seconds, minutes, hours, day of the week, date, month, and year. The IC automatically adjusts the end-of-month date for months with fewer than 31 days and accounts for leap years, enabling long-term, maintenance-free operation.
The module features very low power consumption and can operate for more than one month when powered by a CR1220 backup battery. The Crowtail connector in Type I connection mode enables quick connection to Crowtail base boards without soldering, facilitating use in educational projects, prototypes, and electronic clocks.
