Description

Voltage regulator Pololu 5764 uses the Texas Instruments UCC33420RAQR isolated power module between an input step-down stage and an output step-up stage. The module operates from a 5.5–36 V input and provides a regulated 12 V output with up to 100 mA of current. Operation down to approximately 4.6 V is also possible with reduced output current capability.

Galvanically isolated power transfer separates the input GNDI ground from the output GNDO ground, helping prevent ground loops and unwanted current flow between connected circuits. In addition to the main 12 V / 100 mA output, the module provides an isolated 5 V / up to 300 mA output. Both outputs share the same available power, so the maximum current of one output is available when the other output is unloaded.

UCC33420 provides 3000 VRMS basic isolation and a maximum working isolation voltage of 820 VRMS. The module includes an EN input for enable control and an FLT output for conditions such as output undervoltage or thermal protection. Typical efficiency is approximately 40–50%, while 2.54 mm pitch through-holes facilitate integration with prototyping boards and standard connectors.
