Description

A 5 MP color camera module with autofocus - Arducam Mega 5MP SPI Autofocus Camera Module adds image capture capabilities to projects based on microcontrollers equipped with an SPI interface. The camera provides a resolution of 5 MP with an active sensor area of 2592 x 1944 px and supports RGB, YUV and JPEG output formats. The SPI interface operates at up to 8 MHz, while the built-in frame buffer provides 8 MB of memory. Arducam provides an open-source SDK with a hardware abstraction layer, simplifying integration with different microcontroller architectures.

The autofocus lens automatically adjusts focus for objects located at different distances. The default focusing range extends from 10 cm to infinity. The lens provides a field of view of 68.75° diagonal, 50° horizontal and 37.5° vertical, with a focal length of 3.3 mm and an F2.0 aperture. An integrated 650 nm IR filter limits operation to visible light. Available image controls include saturation, brightness, contrast, white balance, exposure, gain, image quality, rotation and frame rate control.

The module supports 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers and platforms including Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, STM8, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico, MSP430, Nordic and Renesas. The operating voltage is 3.3 V / 5 V, with power consumption of approximately 90 mW at idle and up to 550 mW during operation, while wake-up time is approximately 94 ms. The camera can be used in IoT systems, asset monitoring, environmental observation and projects requiring automated image capture and processing.
