KAmodRPi Pico RS485/RS232 enables serial communication between Raspberry Pi Pico series boards and external devices equipped with RS-485 or RS-232C interfaces. Data transmission is handled using standard UART TX and RX signals, without the need for additional control lines, which simplifies software integration and system configuration.
The module supports two independent communication interfaces, allowing simultaneous data exchange with two external devices. The RS-232 interface operates in full-duplex mode, while RS-485 works in half-duplex mode with automatic direction detection. Such configuration is used in building automation systems, industrial installations, measurement devices, as well as during prototyping and diagnostics of systems using serial communication buses.
Pluggable screw terminals of the Phoenix MC type with 3.81 mm pitch enable fast and secure wire connection without soldering. The RS-232 interface is available on a 3-pin connector (RX, TX, GND), while the RS-485 interface uses a 3-pin connector (A, B, GND), which simplifies integration with typical industrial installations and automation systems.
Built-in ESD protection safeguards RS-232 and RS-485 lines against electrostatic discharge, improving reliability in industrial environments. Additional LED indicators provide information about power presence and transmission activity on both interfaces, simplifying system diagnostics. Power is supplied directly from the Raspberry Pi Pico board, eliminating the need for additional power sources, while compact dimensions of 52 x 23 mm allow integration in space-constrained designs
