Description

The GNSS module offers meter-level location accuracy. Unlike more common modules using L1/L2 bands, the NEO-F10N utilizes L1/L5 bands. The L5 band provides better performance in challenging urban environments because L5 signals are in the protected ARNS (Aeronautical Radio Navigation Service) band, which results in reduced RF interference. This module supports simultaneous reception of signals from three GNSS constellations: GPS, Galileo, and BeiDou. With dual-band multipath mitigation technology from u-blox F10, the NEO-F10N selects the best signals from both bands, significantly improving location accuracy in difficult urban conditions compared to the L1 band.

Unlike other u-blox modules, the NEO-F10N supports only one UART communication port. A USB-UART CH340 converter is included for easy connection of the board to a computer's USB port. For users connecting UART pins to a microcontroller or radio, the USB-TX and USB-RX jumpers should be cut to avoid conflicts on the bus. Additionally, the board includes a 1x6 connector for connecting BlueSMiRF v2 for wireless data transmission. The module also features a built-in battery that powers the RTC in the NEO-F10N, reducing the cold start time from approximately 28 seconds to 2 seconds for a hot start. The battery maintains RTC and GNSS orbit data for extended periods without power. An SMA connector is included for a reliable antenna connection.

Note!

The kit does not include the antenna necessary for proper module operation.

GPS products based on u-blox can be configured using the popular yet comprehensive u-center software. The NEO-F10N module allows configuration of many functions such as baud rate, update frequency, spoofing detection, external interrupts, SBAS, and more. To help you get started, several basic UART examples are provided in our SparkFun Arduino library.
