RTK mosaic-X5 Kit is an advanced solution for precise positioning and navigation, designed and manufactured in Boulder, Colorado, USA. It is based on the multi-constellation, multi-frequency GNSS receiver mosaic-X5 from Septentrio and is one of the most advanced RTK products available on the market. RTK (Real-Time Kinematics) enables very high positioning accuracy by receiving signals from satellite navigation systems (GNSS) along with additional correction data streams. The mosaic-X5 receiver has 448 channels and supports GNSS signals from systems such as GPS (USA), GLONASS (Russia), Beidou (China), Galileo (Europe), NavIC (India), as well as additional satellites like SBAS and QZSS. The kit also supports L-band corrections.
The RTK mosaic-X5 receiver can be configured as an RTK base station, providing corrections to other receivers, or as an RTK rover, achieving horizontal positioning accuracy of 6 mm (plus 0.5 PPM). The kit also provides a position update rate of 100 Hz (100 times per second), making it ideal for robotics and autonomous systems. The kit features a built-in web server, allowing full configuration and position monitoring through a standard browser. The set can log data in RINEX format and supports logging in NMEA or SBF (Septentrio Binary Format). SBF files can be easily converted to RINEX using the RxTools utility from Septentrio. Inside the device is the GNSS mosaic-X5 module and the ESP32-WROVER processor with 16 MB flash memory and 8 MB PSRAM. The receiver offers USB-C connectivity (with Ethernet-over-USB support), multiple UARTs, and full Ethernet support. Although there is no built-in WiFi, the ESP32 acts as an Ethernet-to-WiFi Bridge, enabling connection to WiFi networks via the Ethernet port. The kit also supports Power-over-Ethernet (PoE).
The RTK mosaic-X5 kit is designed for durability and ease of use in laboratory conditions. The electronics are mounted on a single board, and the GNSS and WiFi/Bluetooth antennas are connected via solid SMA connectors. The IO connections are made through a robust screw terminal connector, with the option to select 3.3V or 5V voltage levels. The kit also features carefully designed Reset and Log buttons for easy operation, as well as a microSD card slot for convenient insertion and removal. The entire system is enclosed in a sturdy, custom-made aluminum housing, which can be easily mounted on a roof or in a server rack. The kit includes a GNSS antenna, certified by the National Geodetic Survey, with full support for ANTEX and ANTINFO. The RTK mosaic-X5 kit offers various power options: via USB-C (from mosaic-X5 or ESP32), Power-over-Ethernet (36V to 57V), or external DC power (9V to 36V). The GNSS SMA antenna connector supplies 5V to the active L1/L2/L5 antenna, instead of the standard 3.3V, ensuring stability and reliability.
