Fashionstar Atom S is a fully open-source humanoid robot platform with 10 degrees of freedom (10-DOF), designed for robotics education, motion algorithm experimentation, and learning embedded systems. The robot uses 10 Fashionstar RA8-U25H-M serial bus servos, enabling precise motion control and the creation of advanced animation sequences. The heart of the system is the Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 microcontroller, which provides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity for wireless control and integration with mobile applications and IoT systems. Thanks to compatibility with the entire XIAO module family, the platform can be easily expanded with additional functions and sensors.

The control system uses a RUC-01 adapter board, which acts as the power and communication hub, providing 5 V and 3.3 V power management, a servo bus interface, and a USB-C connector. Thanks to the Grove interface, sensors and expansion modules can be connected quickly without soldering. The robot also supports Bluetooth control, enabling real-time motion execution, position reset, damping mode activation, and playback speed adjustment for recorded animations. Communication with other platforms is handled through UART, allowing the robot to cooperate with systems such as Raspberry Pi, STM32, Arduino, or ESP32.
The robot’s structure is made of components 3D printed using FDM technology, ensuring low weight, easy modification, and open-source availability of the design files. With a compact height of about 28.3 cm, the robot is ideal for desktop use, educational demonstrations, and motion algorithm presentations. The platform also provides an online visual motion editor running in a web browser, enabling real-time servo control and saving motion sequences in JSON format. With the Teaching Mode feature, the user can physically position the robot and record its movements by manually adjusting individual structural elements.

The platform is particularly useful for learning servo motor control, humanoid robot gait planning, and embedded system design. Thanks to its modular design and open architecture, it is an excellent tool for students, hobbyists, and engineers developing robotics projects.
