OAK-1 PoE is an advanced AI camera with a 12 MP resolution, offering neural network processing and computer vision capabilities directly on the device. This allows for capturing high-resolution images, running custom AI models, and performing complex image analysis tasks. The camera is equipped with 16 GB of internal eMMC memory, and the OAK-1-PoE baseboard integrates the camera, transmitting RGB images directly to the OAK-SoM-Pro module for depth processing and AI analysis. Data can be transmitted to the host via USB 3.1 Gen1 (Type-C) or a 1000BASE-T Ethernet connection.
The device features the RVC2 architecture, delivering 4 TOPS of computing power, with 1.4 TOPS dedicated to AI tasks. OAK-1 supports any AI models, including custom architectures, after conversion. The camera supports video encoding in H.264, H.265, MJPEG formats at resolutions of 4K/30FPS or 1080P/60FPS. In terms of computer vision, the device offers distortion correction, resizing, cropping, edge detection, and feature tracking. Object tracking is enabled for 2D tracking using the ObjectTracker module. Power consumption depends on the device load, with a maximum of up to 5W. Fixed-focus cameras are recommended for applications involving heavy vibrations, such as drones, lawnmowers, or vehicles.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) allows the camera to communicate with computers using network protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP, and MQTT. With built-in flash memory in PoE models, programs can run autonomously without requiring a constant connection to a computer. OAK PoE cameras have a robust industrial enclosure with an IP67 rating, making them ideal for outdoor and industrial applications. The OAK-1-PoE board also features boot mode selection switches, allowing users to boot the OAK-SoM-Pro module from USB, internal eMMC memory, or NOR flash memory.
The camera is enclosed in a durable aluminum housing with an IP67 rating and a front panel made of Gorilla Glass, ensuring high durability. It also features a standard 1/4" mounting thread, making it easy to attach to a tripod. The camera uses a USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen1, 5 Gbps) for both power and data transfer. Power consumption varies based on the features used. Basic power usage during video streaming ranges from 2.5W to 3W, with additional power needed for AI subsystems, stereoscopy, and video encoding, totaling up to 5.5W. Reducing the frame rate can further decrease power consumption by reducing the load on individual subsystems.
