OAK-D Lite is an advanced robotic vision camera that combines stereoscopic depth sensing with a high-resolution RGB camera, offering human-like perception. With built-in neural network processing and computer vision capabilities, the camera enables advanced real-time image analysis. It uses a USB Type-C port for power and connectivity, providing fast data transfer via USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbps). The OAK-D camera is based on the RVC2 architecture, which offers 4 TOPS of computational power (including 1.4 TOPS dedicated to AI tasks). OAK-D supports any AI models, including custom ones, after conversion. The device allows encoding in H.264, H.265, MJPEG formats at 4K/30FPS and 1080P/60FPS resolutions. In terms of computer vision, it offers features such as distortion correction, resizing, cropping, edge detection, and feature tracking. Additionally, the camera offers both 2D and 3D object tracking through the ObjectTracker module.
The built-in stereo cameras provide precise depth perception with filtering, data processing, and RGB depth alignment capabilities. The ideal depth range is from 40 cm to 8 m, and the distance between the cameras is 75 mm. The camera is enclosed in a durable aluminum housing, equipped with Gorilla Glass on the front panel, ensuring its durability and resistance to harsh conditions. OAK-D features a standard 1/4" mounting thread for easy tripod attachment, along with a 75mm M4 Vesa mount. The power consumption is up to 5W, depending on the intensity of feature usage. Additionally, the OAK-D camera has an integrated IMU BMI270, a 6-axis inertial module, allowing motion tracking in three dimensions. This enables real-time monitoring of the camera's position and movement. IMU handling details are available through the IMU Node API.
Power consumption in OAK-D depends on the load of modules, including the vision processing unit (VPU). Basic consumption, along with video streaming, is 2.5W - 3W, with additional power demand for the AI system of up to 1W, the stereoscopy system up to 0.5W, and the video encoder also up to 0.5W. The total power consumption can reach up to 5W when all features are used simultaneously. This makes it an ideal solution for projects requiring precise robotic vision, AI, depth analysis, and real-time motion tracking.
