Description
Pololu 3pi+ 32U4 is a modernized version of the popular Pololu 3pi mobile robot. The robot is based on the AVR ATmega32U4 microcontroller with an uploaded bootloader, so it does not require an external programmer and can be programmed using a microUSB cable. It is an excellent platform for people starting their adventure with programming in C/C++ and robotics.
The planer is equipped with two DRV8838 motor controllers, encoders and a flexible power supply system. The Standard Edition version moves thanks to 2 Pololu 30:1 MP motors, and is powered by four AAA batteries.
Attention!
The set does not include the AAA batteries necessary to run the robot. They must be purchased separately. The robot is equipped with five reflection sensors located at the bottom of the platform, two collision sensors at the front of the robot and IMU sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer). In addition, the board has signaling diodes, user buttons, buzzer and a 2x8 character display.
The microcontroller controlling the robot is equipped with an Arduino bootloader and can be programmed using the Arduino IDE environment using dedicated libraries. To program the robot with the Arduino IDE, only a microUSB cable is required (not included). Advanced users can also program the robot in C using popular environments such as Atmel Studio. The rich and easy-to-use Pololu AVR C/C++ Library are available for handling individual robot systems. In this case, an external programmer is required.
Full documentation and user manual are available on the product page.
Modifications introduced in Pololu 3pi+ 32U4 in relation to Pololu 3pi:
- ATmega32U4 microcontroller with Arduino compatible bootloader, can be programmed directly via USB
- Incremental encoders on both motors for closed-loop position and speed control
- Full 9-axis IMU (three-axis gyro, accelerometer and compass)
- The battery holders from the bottom provide access to the batteries, even if additional levels are added
- A bumper that protects the electronics against collisions
- Two front collision sensors
The robot is available in several versions, both fully assembled and as a kit for self-assembly.
Version | Motors | Max speed | Comments |
