The AVR Studio environment offers the possibility of operating mainly "company" programmers; such as STK500 or AVRISP. Nothing, however, stands in the way of making a "pretend" layout under one of the company's designs. This is not a particularly difficult task, especially since Atmel has provided a communication protocol between the PC and the programmer, as well as a description of the signals necessary for correct programming of the processor.
The programmer consists of three main blocks: the FT232RL system which is the computer's USB port interface, the ATmega 8 microcontroller realizing all logic functions and the output buffer. The whole is powered directly from the USB interface line.
The device is especially recommended for electronics using AVR microcontrollers and the AVR Studio 4.12 programming environment
