The stack offers advanced pipeline management and error recovery mechanisms, ensuring high operational reliability. Its modular architecture with a hardware driver layer allows for easy integration with a variety of hardware platforms. Segger emUSB-Host BASE (9.30.00)
emUSB-Host BASE is a basic USB Host stack designed for embedded systems, enabling support for USB peripheral devices. The software provides full USB host functionality, including support for hubs and selected device classes such as MSD (Mass Storage Device) and HID (Human Interface Device). The solution is compliant with the USB specification and supports all transfer types: control, bulk, interrupt, and isochronous at all supported speeds.
The stack implements internal USB pipe management as well as advanced error recovery mechanisms, ensuring high reliability and operational stability. Dynamic detection, enumeration, and identification of devices are supported, along with hot-plug functionality for both devices and hubs. emUSB-Host BASE enables simultaneous management of multiple devices and complex USB tree structures with multiple hubs. Thanks to its modular architecture, the application can either directly use the host programming interface or rely on the API provided by class drivers.
The BASE version includes support for the MSD class, allowing connection of USB mass storage devices, and the HID class, enabling operation with user interface devices such as keyboards and mice. To perform file and directory operations using the MSD class, a file system is required, typically emFile. The stack consists of three layers: a hardware access driver (target driver), the core, and the USB protocol layer. The solution is hardware-independent thanks to its hardware abstraction layer implemented via drivers. emUSB-Host BASE requires the appropriate target driver to operate.
